The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That

Through humour, catchy songs and active problem-solving, preschoolers delight in the wonders of science, and eagerly engage with The Cat in the Hat to become spectacular scientific explorers.

Versioning Program

The Canada Media Fund’s (CMF) Versioning Program is designed to expand the accessibility of CMF-funded projects to other audiences by adding voice-overs and/or subtitles to projects, usually in French or English. Versioning increases revenue potential in other markets when Canadian projects gain further national and international sales. Projects receive funding on a first-come, first-served basis.

In 2012-2013, the CMF’s Versioning Program provided $1.6M or an 8.2% increase in funding over 2011-2012 due to additional funds being made available to the program,  supporting 31 projects, 6 more than last year. Twenty of the projects (64.5% ) were initially produced in the English-language and thirteen of the projects (41.9% ) were from the documentary genre. The program also funded 11 children’s and youth projects. Three projects were originally produced in Mandarin and one was an Aboriginal-language project. One was a digital media component. Of the television projects, there were ten one-offs, 19 series, and one movie of the week. One drama project originally in Mandarin was versioned into Cantonese.
